Gube

The Rubix Cube for Android Phones
In 1974, the Hungarian professor of architecture Ernő Rubik invented the now well known puzzle that is named after him: “Rubik’s Cube™”. To solve the puzzle, each of the six faces must be of one solid color. This ageless game is a test of wit, dexterity and problem solving and has now been brought to the virtual world of Android as “Gube”.
You can have your own (virtual) Rubix Cube on your phone by just swiping the screen. Try to solve it in a short a time as possible.
You manipulate The Gube by just swiping your finger over the screen. Swiping outside the Gube area or rolling the trackball will rotate the Gube. Swiping inside the Gube area will rotate a layer, the layer whose side your finger is touching.
Progress is automatically saved when you exit the game. Just start up The Gube again and the game will start where you left off.
Various settings let you adjust the appearance and the speed of The Gube.
When you install the game, it asks for three permissions:
- Access to Internet
Internet access is used only to check for updates. - Wake Lock
You can configure the game to never turn off or dim the screen. This is handy if your normal screen time-out is really low, like 15 seconds. - Vibrate
This is used for some tactile feedback.
You can purchase The Gube from these markets for a small fee.
- Android Market
(this link only works when browsing on an Android phone) - MobiHand.com
- Handango.com
The name “Gube” comes from the fact that the first available Android base phone was T-Mobile’s “G1″.
